YOGSOH FAIRFIELD-01:  INDEX OF COMBINATION ATLAS MAP OF FAIRFIELD COUNTY, OHIO.  1875.  Compiled, drawn and published from personal examinations and surveys by H. L. Everts, Philadelphia.  Indexed by Beulah Mohart Scott, March 1968.  37 pages, 8 ” by 11”, very nicely hardbound, thin paper was used, but thankfully was only printed on one side, so it is quite legible.  There are two columns on every page, 100 entries on each page.  Each column follows the same format.  Last name, first name (usually initials), with the Section numberWhat a lot of work this was! With 3,700 entries to, alphabetize and type.  The names appear to be alphabetically arranged within each township.   There was no attempt made to include any maps in this book.  The reprinted atlas/map may be available from the society.  PRICE:  $20

Included free with the above book is an article from :The Searcher, Southern California Genealogical Society, Volume 4, Number 12, dated December 1967.  Titled California, Ho!  This single page tells the story of the project of Thomas Sturgeon and Sanuel Crim, partners in the buying and selling of horses, who bought 100 horses with the idea of taking them to California to sell in 1852.  They took forty men and 16 wagons.  The men were mostly from Fairfield County.  This is a brief story of the trip.  They list the names of the men who went in 1852 and had come from this county and where they lived in circa 1900.  The excerpt was reprinted in California, but interested people may look it up in the book, “Pioneer Period and Pioneer People of Fairfield County, Ohio in 1901.
