This publication is a genealogical goldmine for Perry County, Illinois researchers. Along with marriage records from 1827 through 1850, it also contains compilers' genealogical notes ... everything from parent's names to final resting place of couple, probate box numbers, ages, and prior county of residence.

These records were originally copied by Dorothy I. Cooke and Elizabeth Eiker Spurgeon and were later indexed and corrected by Mrs. Spurgeon. The many notations are hers and were taken from probate and other court house records, tombstone inscriptions, and consent of parent or guardian from original marriage applications.
