Newsletter Subtitle: TENNESSEE - MORE PERIODICALS. "ANSEARCHIN' NEWS FROM ISSUE #1 ALMOST TO #27 AND FROM 39 TO 49! PLUS SOME SINGLES!
Month Day Year JULY 13, 2010
The two telephone lines listed above have not been working since last Wednesday. A thunderstorm went through our area that night and they are just now back to being fully functioning. The phone would ring, but when I would pick it up, there was a dead silence, followed shortly by the click of a disconnect. When I would try to call out, I could sometimes do so, locally, but not always. I could not get a call, nor could I make a long-distance call. They said they hope to have it fixed by Monday.
[YEAH! They Came, They Saw, They Fixed it!!!] I hope.
In response to your many previous calls, John Palmer and I put this list of these issues of the Tennessee Genealogical Magazine, called "ANSEARCHIN' NEWS" together. We've been selling mostly books on the newsletters for quite a while; but we also have quite a selection of genealogy and history magazines, too.
The first crate we published on that Friday sold out before lunchtime, so this time we're offering, mostly different issues of some different years of these "Ansearchin' News", the Tennessee Genealogical Magazine. This magazine is a great genealogical resource for anyone researching Tennessee ancestors.
Call Pat at 1-800-419-0200 if you are interested in these, previously unlisted, Tennessee periodicals still in stock and appearing here for the first time. These books, hardbound, are cheaper than you could
photocopy them!(*) (*) (*) (*) (*) (*) (*) (*) (*) (*) (*)
"ANSEARCHIN'" NEWS CURRENTLY IN STOCK, TENNESSEE PERIODICAL. All books in this section are ex-lib, with no markings of ownership on them. They are clean and are hardbound in matching bindings of a pretty light warm brown. The books are in very good condition, nicely bound with titles in white on the spine Pages are clean, but occasionally will have a yellow highlighter mark on a surname.
They each cover many different county records plus some state records and are surname-indexed mostly per issue. These volumes are in good condition. Because of the sheer number of these, we are not listing all of the articles that are inside them. Instead, I am listing the counties and a few of the surnames that appear in one or more of the four issues per volume. The Table of Contents in each issue has a full page listing of the counties covered for each
issue and some of the names of the important families in that issue are included.
The surname indexes usually cover each one of the four quarterly issues, separately, and each index is included only in that issue in the book. This way when you get your new quarterly issue, the index is already in the back! All names are listed, but not in one list except for several years which have a whole year all-in-one index. Due to the size of the indexes as well as there being four to eight of them in every book, the index will only be abstracted for the first six issue set which has has only one comprehensive index for all six of the years covered.
These indexes are huge!
JP55: BOOK 1: ANSEARCHIN' NEWS. 1954-1959: VOLUMES 1 THRU 6, Reprint, 201 pages, some yellow highlighting of surnames. Six years bound in one HB Volume. This is the list of information in the first volume through the sixth volume, now collected and indexed all in one volume. The Table of Contents indicate you will find a major interest and report on that subject, and these are the subjects in this volume: Memphis News and a Variety of Notes; Notes about Archives, Libraries and Other Genealogical Societies; Notes About Family Associations and Family Books; Notes About General Genealogical Reference Books; County Courthouse Records of the State of Georgia; Parish Records of the Diocese of Virginia 1663-1900; How to Trace Your Genealogy; The Natchez Expedition - 1813; Index of Tennessee
County Courthouse Records Prior to 1860 for Selected Counties; Family Bible Records in the Cossitt Library, Memphis; Church Minute Book, Methodist Episcopal Circut South; Early Giles Co., TN, Marriages; Index of TN County Records Available in the Tennessee State Library, Nashville, TN, 1958; Abstracts from the Records of the Cherokee
Indian Agency in Tennessee, 1801-1804; Muster Roll, Command of Captain John Cunningham, Colonel William Metcalf, 1st Regiment, Tennessee Militia; The Battle of New Orleans - Resolution of Tennessee Legislature; Queries 1954-#1 Through 1959 #189. Many counties are mentioned in other articles in the Tables of Content for these issues.
There is also a surname-index at the back of this volume which includes all these six issues. Surnames may appear many times on the page, but are only counted once on any given page number, although they may appear on it several or many times as in Bible Records or indexed marriage or cemetery records or birth and death records. Also that entire page may be devoted to the people of that family. This is just an abstract from all of the nine pages of this index. Four columns per page, about 60 to 80 names per column and nine pages, together holding 35 ¾ columns. Do the math! Surnames listed here appear in this index if they appear on 3(,) or more than (#) pages in the

These next books have little further explanation with them because of space considerations. Hope it is enough for you to find something you like! Of course, it did not help that these books are located in John Palmer's house in South Bend, Indiana! I couldn't reach far enough to turn the pages or read the print! But he has assured me that if you buy them, he will ship them to you!

This concludes the set of ANSEARCHIN' NEWS issues that John and I have available at this time. That doesn't mean that we will not have more in a week or a month or in six months. We certainly hope we do not have all of these books around for too long because I have some Indiana to do on a future crate! Books come and go around
here all the time. Watch the newsletters for more books and periodicals! You never know what we might have that you would like to have, so keep checking these newsletters! We are always looking for genealogy books and periodicals you wish to sell to make room for new things. I guess you could say we like to recycle books!
We thank you for checking out this newsletter.
